Island Score

The Island Score (as of May, 2017):

The Island Score is an invitation to contemplate our human community. It grows as a weekly practice and performance as part of the weekly Quiet Circus events at the Washington Avenue Pier, the historic site for waves of immigration into Philadelphia that occurred in the late 19th and early 20th century. The score invites performers, participants, and audience members to contemplate “How did I come to this land? How did you come to this land?” The images above are copies of the score printed in Spanish and English and available to anyone who happens to see them as the performance is taking place. Any given performance includes people who are encountering the performance for the first time, as well as people who have returned many times to explore, perform and grow the score.

Visit the Island Score Gallery to see images and video of this performance as it evolves over the course of 36 weeks.
