What is this?

The Quiet Circus is a 15-month long performance residency at the Washington Avenue Pier, created by Headlong.  Audiences and participants alike are invited to engage in a single, ongoing arc of events along Philadelphia’s Schuylkill and Delaware Rivers.

Come as you are. You can attend the weekly performances as an audience member, or get more involved as a participant.

The weekly performances occur at the Washington Avenue Pier every Saturday at 11am in Fall 2016, Spring 2017, and Fall 2017.

Anyone who is interested in engaging on a more participatory level is invited to join us on Friday afternoons at the Washington Avenue Pier. You are just right for this work.

There are two other programs that interlock with the weekly events at the pier - River Charrettes and Reflection Events. The four River Charrettes, produced together with Philadelphia Contemporary, take place at starkly different sites along Philadelphia's waterfronts. Reflection Events convene conversation that shape the ongoing weekly performances.

We invite you to experience the wholeness of this work by attending a weekly performance, a River Charrette and a Reflection Event. Better yet, come to multiple weekly performances to see how things change, and of course we would love for you to get involved as a participant!

The Quiet Circus ran for 36 weeks over 15 months, from September 2016 through November 2017. For writing, media and reflections on the continuing life of this work, subscribe to the Quiet Circus Blog and join our mailing list below.
